NewsHouse GOP calls for repeal of the Safe-T Act

Illinois House Republicans are pushing to repeal several police and criminal justice reforms made last year. The so-called “Safe-T Act” addresses several issues, including use of force by police, mandating body cameras, and ending cash bail for non-violent offenders.

But Representative Tony McCombie of Savanna says these changes have done nothing to stop crime and have led to many police officers leaving the profession.
