The newly redrawn 89th District will have a familiar face as its new state representative.
Tony McCombie of Savanna, the three-term 71st District state representative who was drawn out of her district and into the 89th, defeated Victoria Onorato by collecting 75% of the vote in Tuesday’s Republican primary.
“Thank you to everyone who worked and voted me in this Republican primary,” she said. “I share tonight’s win with all of you and rededicate myself to the hard work ahead of us in turning Illinois around.
“I appreciate the many new voters for me in this new district who saw the vision and invested in a better future for Northwest Illinois.”
The newly redrawn district 89th District consists of all or parts of Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Davies, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago and counties.
